Preparation and proper clothing for Zip line

How to prepare and what to wear on zip-line adventure?

One of many concerns that our visitors usually have before they finally come to our adventure club in Montenegro, is the one about proper clothing and preparation for zip-line adventure. Ziplining can be perceived as extreme, so many adventurers were worried if zip-line is safe, or what can they do to make themselves safe enough. Some of those things mean that you need to follow some clothing rules and instructions about what can you bring with you.

Here we go, these are the most important preparation rules for ziplining.

What to wear and when?

The most important rule is that you should feel comfortable wearing your clothes. Don’t forget that around your waist and thighs comes very tight harness which can feel uncomfortable if you already wear uncomfortable clothes. Make sure to follow the seasons when you go for a zip-line adventure. If it’s hot beware that it will be somewhere chillier since you’ll be sliding at very high speed, and if it’s winter make sure to wear even warmer clothes than you should need for a simple walk or a hiking tour.

Clothes for Summer months zip-lining

Most of our visitors like ziplining during summer. Not just because it’s hot, but most of them like the look of our magnificent nature during shiney days and higher temperatures. Of course, during late spring and summer everyone will be wearing shorts and t-shirts, and that is completely fine if you ask us. Still there are some things you shouldn’t wear. Here are our dos and don’ts about summertime clothes for zip line.

Do wear: shorts, t-shirts, light jackets if it’s a bit chilly, sweatpants and sweatshirts, leggings, socks, sneakers, shoes and every other form of closed-toe footwear.

Don’t wear: skirts (only elastic ones are ok if you’re wearing shorts or leggings underneath), dresses, jewelery (avoid anything that can get knotted between zip-line equipment), sandals, flip-flops and other open footwear since it can easily slide of your foot, and you might loose it forever.

Winter months zip-line adventures

When it comes to winter zip-line adventures of course you’ll need warm clothing wherever you’re ziplining on the planet. We can guarantee that zip-line in Montenegro at Djurdjevica Tara Bridge during winter can be really cold. This is very important to know since the zipline slide on temperatures around 0 becomes even colder. Add wind to it and you can get the idea. You might even need a mask, but we can provide it for you, and winter cap is a good option if you can fit it underneath the helmet.

Of course there are some things you shouldn’t wear for safety reasons. Check them all out.

Do wear: warm winter clothes; wind resistant pants and jacket; hard footwear or boots…

Don’t wear: scarfs (those can be really dangerous, especially if there’s a lot of wind)...

Safety tips and what not to bring

For the end, we saved some useful tips about your zip-line tour. It’s highly recommended not to bring a lot of stuff with you. It can only bother you and you’ll feel uncomfortable always watching for your stuff. Because just like we already said, zip-line is so much fun and there are plenty of reasons to try it. Holding your stuff isn't one of them.

It is ok to bring your phone with you. It’s only natural that you wish to take a photo of your adventure, but make sure to leave your phone, other expensive stuff and belongings like jewelry with your guide, or friends. It’s very easy to lose something once adrenaline pops up and wind kicks in, because your shorts, trousers and other clothing parts will be tightly gripped and all of those things could easily fall out.

Beware that once they fall into the deep Tara river Canyon, they’re either gone forever or broken to its peaces. Of course there are some rules when it comes to long hair, scarfs and other loose things that can get knotted around safety zip-line gear. Pick up your hair and tightly tuck it in so that there aren’t any loose parts. And of course, all of those other stuff simply don’t bring with yourself.

These were some simple but very important rules and tips for your comfort during zip-line. We hope you’ll read it thoroughly before you come here! Anyway, we wish you safe adventures, and see you soon!
