1. Do I need any equipment for activities?

All equipment for realisation of rafting activitie is provided by TaraSport:

  • Neoprene suit
  • Neoprene boots
  • Life jacket
  • Helmet
  • Anorak

 

2. What is rafting and do I need prior experience?

Rafting represents a rapid descent in special rubber boats called rafts, designed for wild waters, which can fit 8 - 10 people at the time. Rafting boats are managed by trained and IRF licensed guides - the skippers. All guides must posses the IRF (International Rafting Federation) license and must have a lot of experience. For a thrilling ride on sparkling streams you don't need nor prior experience or special physical fitness. Before every descent, participants receive all the necessary equipment and a brief theoretical training so the adventure can be complete.

3. Why Tara river?

Tara river canyon (1337 m) is the second deepest canyon in the world, right after famous Grand canyon in USA. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1977. and it is included in the World’s Top 25 Natural Sights.

For years now it is the hotspot for all rafting lovers around the World. Last part / lower course of Tara river is the most exciting part for a rapid descent, because it is rich with more than 20 sparkling river rapids. Numerous mountain sources flow into Tara river throughout whole Tara river stream, and this is the reason why you can see so many astonishing ice cold waterfalls. Water smashing on the rocky Tara canyon walls is the sound you’ll remember. The whole Tara river stream can offer a true paradise for all of your senses and many natural wonders of our wilderness: stone and rocky terraces, wild beaches, dense pine forests and high cliffs with over 80 secret caves.

Tara river is one of the biggest drinking water sources in Europe, therefore it’s often called the Tear of Europe.

This is why in 2012. Tara river and rafting on Tara river took the first place on National Geographic’s list Tours of a lifetime.
