During the whole Speleological adventure tour, we are passing through idyllic, magnificent landscapes that will impress you and make you want to capture their beauty with cameras. No question about it! Each cave is a gem of its own, and you will leave them richer with lovely memories.

Here we will give you an introduction to what awaits you. The caves have been hand-picked by our professional guides - a splendid list of attractive locations that will suit all our guests. You might visit one of the following caves during your Speleology tour:

  • Kuk

Kuk cave, the pearl of the Bistrica River Canyon, is considered one of the most beautiful caves not only in BiH but in the entire Balkans. Because of its low entrance, it has been hidden for a long time from the outside world and thus preserved its greatest wealth intact. After the 2-3 meters narrow entrance, the cave shows its ornaments right away. It consists of two parts: the upper, consisting of multiple large halls 688 meters long and the lower, which is decreased by about 45 meters than the upper part. The cave is adorned with various forms of cave ornaments, stalactites, massive stalagmites, cave pillars, and curtains, as well as coralloides and cascades. What makes this cave exceptional other than its good looks are the skeleton remains of the cave bear, Ursus spelaeus, which had been gone extinct around 36,000 to 40,000 years ago. The age of the skeleton has been determined by the method of radioactive carbon-14 and the remains represent the oldest found in BiH. The skeletal remains can still be seen in this cave.

  • Ledenjača

Ledenjača cave (enl. Freezer cave) is most popular because of the old Potok river abyss, which plunges 40 meters east of the entrance to the cave. During the geological history, the riverbed has been lowered and left out the Ledenjača outside its active hydrological function. The cave entrance is half-covered with stonewalls because of the local population's belief that the wind that blows out of the cave brings salt and frost causing fruit and forests to decay. The cave was home to prehistoric people who left carved drawings, which are located on both sides of the cave entrance. According to the results of archaeological research, the drawings date from the period of the Bronze Age. Human figures that show the basic facial features, eyes, and mouth can be seen in the drawings. Also, you can see some kind of blanket which they were covered with which indicates that it was cooler when they were drawn. Drawings are unique in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is one of the two caves in whose entrance there are prehistoric drawings. During the winter season, this cave is adorned with icy stalactites, stalagmites, cave curtains, and poles.

  • Mušin poredak

Mušin poredak cave, alongside the Kuk cave, represents the greatest treasure of the river Bistrica canyon. The large entrance which is rapidly narrowing leads into a big vastness of this cave. It belongs to the cave system with periodic standing water. It is a medium-sized cave and is one of the most beautiful caves in the municipality of Foča. It is rich with stalagmites, stalactites, draperies, coralloides, and unusual cave pillars of which some are taller than 3 meters. In the middle of the cave, there are cascades, filled with cave crystals and clear water, which is the heart of this cave and makes it unique. The cave ends with a series of spacious halls.

  • Bršlenjica 1

Brsljenica 1 cave is in the high cliffs of the Bistrica river canyon. The entrance to the cave is covered with ivy (bršljen) which is how it got its name. Morphologically, this cave consists of two canals - the first canal is, according to hydrological characteristics, one with constant water flow, while the other belongs to the dry canals. The total canal length of the cave is 160 meters. The water is rich with carbon dioxide while flowing down the steep parts of the cave floor, encountering a variety of dams, creating a large number of cascades that are the most beautiful decorations of the Bršljenica 1 cave. Some cascades are over 1.5 meters deep, gradually climbing to the very end of the cave where they blend with the beautiful cave ornaments. The cave is decorated with basins filled coralloids and stalactites that are on the high ceilings. In addition to the cave jewelry, this cave is very significant, because it represented a refuge of extinct cave bears, Ursus spelaeus, more than 20.000 years ago where they found the remains of their skeletons.

  • Velika Kutlača

Velika Kutlača cave is located 638 masl, in the steep rocks of the Bistrica river canyon. It comprises of one main and one secondary canal. The total length of the canal is 415 meters and is a medium-sized cave. According to the hydrological characteristics of the cave, it belongs to the occasional standing water one. First cave jewelry appears on the thirtieth meter from the entrance in the form of cascades. The middle part of the cave is decorated with a large number of stalactites and stalagmites, cascades filled with transparent water, and coralloides. It is characterized by the cave pillars, some of which are more than 2.5 meters high.

  • Skakavac

Skakavac cave is placed in the Sopotnica stream canyon. According to the hydrological characteristics, it is a dry cave. Although a small cave, this cave attracts visitors with its beauty. At the very entrance to the cave, jewelry was formed that hints the richness of this cave. The entrance continues into a narrow canal that leads to a room decorated with a large number of stalactites, stalagmites, and cave curtains. The most beautiful jewels of this cave are coralloides reminiscent of intertwined plant roots.
